Regaining Balance: 5 Strategies to Reclaim your Joy, Success, and Power

About 2 years ago I noticed that I was continuing to feel tired even after a good 8-hour night's sleep. Throughout my day I was irritable, moody, and became easily frustrated. Even more so, I felt disconnected from my husband, my children, and my loved ones. As it turns out, my life was completely out of balance.

We all lead busy lives, and it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sometimes, we become so focused on achieving our goals and meeting our obligations that we forget to take care of ourselves. We neglect our physical and emotional health, and before we know it, we're feeling burnt out and overwhelmed.

The good news is that regaining balance is possible, and there are strategies that you can use to reclaim your joy, success, and power. Whether you're feeling stressed out, stuck in a rut, or just need a little extra motivation, these five strategies will help you regain your balance and get back on track. So, if you're ready to take control of your life and start feeling your best, keep reading to discover the top five strategies I used to reclaim my joy, success, and power.

#1 – SCHEDULE TIME FOR MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION

Mindfulness and meditation are powerful tools for regaining balance. They help us stay present in the moment and reduce stress and anxiety. Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment. Meditation is the practice of focusing our attention on a specific object or thought to achieve a state of calm.

🌟ACTION STEP: To practice mindfulness, try to focus on your breathing for a few minutes each day. When your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to your breath. You can also practice mindfulness while you are doing everyday activities, such as washing dishes or walking.

#2 - SETTING BOUNDARIES AND SAYING NO

One of the biggest challenges to achieving balance is learning to say no. (I am a recovering people pleaser 🙋🏻‍♀️) We often feel pressure to say yes to everything, whether it's a work project, social event, or family obligation. However, saying yes to everything can lead to burnout and overwhelm.

Learning to set boundaries and say no is so essential for regaining balance. This means identifying your priorities and saying no to activities that don't align with those priorities. It also means setting limits on your time and energy, so you don't become overwhelmed.

🌟ACTION STEP: Ask yourself – “What am I saying yes to that does not bring me joy?” Identify one thing and create a boundary by removing this from your life, or negotiate different solutions around this activity.

#3 - PRIORITIZING SELF-CARE AND WELL-BEING

Self-care is essential for regaining balance. It means taking care of our physical, emotional, and mental health. This means making time for activities that nourish our bodies and minds and recognizing when we need a break and taking time to rest and recharge. Self-care activities may include exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, and spending time with loved ones.

🌟ACTION STEP: Establish one self-care activity for you at least once a week. For me, Sundays are my rest day. I do not cook, sleep in, and spend uninterrupted time with my family.

#4- MOVE YOUR BODY

Exercise and physical activity are essential for our physical and mental health. They help us reduce stress and anxiety, improve our mood, and increase our energy levels. Exercise also helps us maintain a healthy weight and reduce our risk of chronic diseases.

🌟ACTION STEP: To make exercise a part of your daily routine, find an activity that you enjoy and make it a habit. This could be walking, running, swimming, or practicing yoga. Exercise doesn't have to be intense or time-consuming. Even a few minutes of activity each day can make a big difference in our physical and mental well-being.

#5 - CREATE A SUPPORT SYSTEM TO KEEP YOU ACCOUNTABLE

Creating a support system is essential for regaining balance. Our support system may include friends, family, coworkers, or a professional development and success coach. It's important to have people in our lives who can offer support, encouragement, and guidance.

🌟ACTION STEP: To create a support system, reach out to people in your life who you trust and admire. This could be a friend who is a good listener, a family member who offers wise advice, or a success coach who can help you work through your challenges.

Regaining balance is truly essential for our well-being. By prioritizing our time and energy, practicing mindfulness and meditation, setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, exercising, and creating a support system, we can regain balance and live a happier, more fulfilling life. Remember that balance is not a one-time achievement; it's a continuous process that requires effort and attention. By making these strategies a part of our daily routine, we can achieve balance and take control of our lives.
